We, the undersigned citizens of Adams and Franklin Counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in the United States of America, do hereby declare our unwavering commitment to the rule of law, ensuring that our community upholds the tenants of a peaceful, non-violent society. We come from diverse political beliefs and backgrounds, but we stand united in our commitment to acknowledging and expressing those differences freely and without fear of violence.

Our nation thrives on the ability to exchange thoughts civilly in the free marketplace of ideas. Political violence in any form undermines this ability and only serves to deepen our divisions. Political violence undermines the rule of law and something that we all seek; a society where we can freely express our opinions without fear of violent reprisal. 

We are committed to mutual respect, reasoned dialogue, and compromise. We are stronger when we talk to each other; when we engage, without fear, without pre-conceived judgments, and with open minds. And when our differences seem overwhelming and apparently can’t be resolved, we pledge to settle our disputes politically or legally—with brute facts, not brute force.

We call on all citizens, leaders, and influencers to reject calls for violence in any form and to actively embrace and promote the values of peace and unity in every aspect of our lives. We urge everyone to join us in fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and constructive engagement. Let us work together to heal our divisions, promote peace, and protect the cherished ideals that bind us together.
